Avenue of StarsImagine splashes of multi-colored laser beams dancing across Victoria Harbor, lighting the city center for a full 14 minutes as surrounding skyscrapers pop in with their own colors and effects. This is one of the most thrilling sights in Hong Kong, watching these bright lights weave from both sides of the harbor. I usually leave a blank pocket of time for the 8 p.m. Symphony of Lights show.

In order to witness the entirety of the sound and light show, join the festive crowd at Avenue of Stars on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront on the Kowloon side. For a little bit more of an elegant taste on the spectacle, have a cocktail at the Intercontinental Hotel with terraced seating and soak in the grand air-conditioned view. Another exhilarating experience is dinner on the 30th floor of Aqua, a terraced restaurant that combines fine dining with an unobstructed view of the lights.

The very next night, you can immerse yourself within the light show at the outdoor cocktail lounge at Sevva on the 25th floor of Prince’s Building in Hong Kong. Here, you’re caught directly in the middle of the light show as beams play around you and the buildings dare to enchant you with their colors as you watch the Kowloon light show across the harbor.
